History:

In the beginning…

Consistent with Hon. Mayor Melencio L. De Sagun’s vision of “Education for all”, the City Government of Trece Martires City had conceptualized the establishment of the City College which will cater to all poor but deserving and intelligent young Trecenos; a college that will offer courses that free them from bondage of ignorance and poverty; a college that is manned by administrators and teachers who are committed to the total formation of man imbued with knowledge, includes the habits that will make learners true men of their time, likewise exerting efforts into giving their best for the betterment of the college, for the fulfillment of the objectives and goals of each courses, with the help of the whole academic community that supports them, but no more so with the help of Almighty God.

Mindful of these concepts behind, the group that started it all in the persons of Mr. Alberto Ararao, (then Planning officer), Mr. Raymund C. Eguillos, (Senior Executive Assistant to the Mayor), Ms. Gemma Lubigan, (Secretary to the Mayor), and Dr. Violeta C. Regullano (then educational consultant of the office of the mayor) had gathered their forces and come up with the survey and feasibility studies on the probability of having a College within the City.

Carrying the flame of the then Honorable Mayor Melencio De Sagun’s eagerness to help the people of Trece comprises the AD HOC Board of Trustees with the Mayor as the chairman including the former Honorable Vice Mayor Alvin Mojica and the then in charge of Education Committee Hon. Councilor Bong De Sagun, as members respectively.

The group, with the assistance of the City Government thru the office of the Mayor and the Sangguniang Panglunsod had created the City Ordinance No. 2008-154 dated November 10, 2008 supported by the Board Resolution No. 2008-002 dated November 25, 2008 which provide for the establishment and operation of the City College that will carry the name “TRECE MA RTIRES CITY COLLEGE” (a.k.a. TMCC). Alongside with this operation was the appropriation and the allocation of the necessary budget which includes the acquisition of lot and buildings at Brgy. Luciano to be used as the site for the City College.

June 5, 2009 marked the beginning of operation of TMCC with its permit to operate its initial curricular offering – Education (Elementary/Secondary) and Hotel and Restaurant Management with 216 enrollees. Determined to carry out the vision and mission of the College, it started with one (1) building with 12 rooms.

Indeed, time flies, 2010 paved the way for young, fresh ideas to improve the College. In keeping with this program on “Moving Directly to Success”, Hon. Melandres De Sagun, the newly elected mayor has so many plans for the college. Assuming the chairmanship of the TMCC Board of Trustees, he was able to construct a 3-storey building, raised the salary of teachers, more HRM equipment, and purchased more textbooks were acquired by the school. Enrollment zoomed to 500 or more.

Truly, our young Mayor believes that educating the youth and inculcating good values can unite, edify, promote team work, raise productivity and add to healthy bottom-line results at the same time may shape the government’s vision, define the mission of an organization and guide its strategic programs.
