It supervises all elementary and secondary education institutions, including alternative learning systems, both public and private; and provides for the establishment and maintenance of a complete, adequate, and integrated system of basic education relevant to the goals of national development.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is the government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development (TESD) in the Philippines. TESDA sets direction, promulgates relevant standards, and implements programs geared towards a quality-assured and inclusive technical education and skills development and certification system.
The municipality of Marcos has a land area of 72.77 square kilometers or 28.10 square miles which constitutes 2.13% of Ilocos Norte’s total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 18,010. This represented 2.95% of the total population of Ilocos Norte province, or 0.34% of the overall population of the Ilocos Region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 247 inhabitants per square kilometer or 641 inhabitants per square mile.
