School History:

Convinced of the Passi Citys location, which is at the heart of Panay, and fervently desirous to uplift the citys economic status through its youth, on November 5, 2004, Passi City Mayor Elyzer C. Chavez and his Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) Members particularly the chairman of the committee on education SP Member Basilio Ligasan Jr., through the wisdom and the linkages of Helmar E. Aguilar, Ed. D., President Emeritus, Aklan State University and Passi City College Consultant with the effort and expertise of Rodolfo L. Leonor, Ph. D., Education Supervisor I of the Division of Passi City, at the same time Acting College Dean, conceived the foundation of the Passi City College A Brave Step in Providing Quality Tertiary Education for a Better Tomorrow.

A committee was organized to conduct a feasibility study for the creation of Passi City College. This was chaired by Helmar E. Aguilar, Ed. D., co-chaired by Rodolfo L. Leonor, Ph.D. and with members Dr. Defralino Ruiz, Budget Officer, Aklan State University and Dr. Regina Clavel, Researcher and Statistician, Iloilo State College of Fisheries Dingle Campus.

After a thorough deliberation and evaluation of the Feasibility Study result and assured of the strong support of the Passinhons, the Passi City Local Government established Passi City College on February 3, 2005 through the Special Ordinance No. 2005-02 which was duly approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan through a Joint Committee Report No. 01 Series of 2005 on March 28, 2005. Two curricular programs were offered in its first year of operation ( AY 2005-2006) namely: Teacher Education Program which includes Bachelor in Elementary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English and in Math; and Business Education Program which includes Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Finance and Management Accounting. The college officially started classes with 68 students on June 20, 2005 at the Passi Trade School Campus through the kindness and generosity of Director Buen Mondejar and Mr. Raul P. Palomo, Vocational School Administrator III of the said institution, who allowed the use of their three-classroom building for one year and a half. In its second academic year of operation 2006-2007, through a Resolution No.2006-004, a new program was offered that is the Bachelor of Science in Criminology. There was a significant increase in the enrolment from 68 students to 230 students. In the second semester of AY 2006-2007, Passi City College occupied its real site in Brgy. Bacuranan, City of Passi. In AY 2007-2008, two new programs were offered through a Resolution No. 2006-017 namely, the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Scholarship:

SCHOLARSHIP, GRANTS-IN-AIDS AND SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PRIVILES

1.  Scholarship Program

Scholarships in the college are classified into:

  •  Institutional Scholarships
  • Government Scholarship (local, provincial and national)
  • Privately-Sponsored Scholarship.

2. Institutional Scholarship

  • This scholarship is given to a high school graduate who has an excellent academic performance such as valedictorian, salutatorian and with honors student that comes from private and public high schools. Provided, that the said valedictorians, salutatorians and with honors student are duly certified by the head of the institution. The valedictorian can avail 100% free tuition fees; salutatorian – 75% free tuition fees; with honors 50% free tuition fees. The student shall enjoy free tuition fee for one semester or succeeding semesters if he/she maintains the grades of 85% or 2.0 in general and major subjects of the course or program taken.

3. Government Scholarship

  • City Scholarship and Provincial Scholarship grants are existing in the college with their own set of criteria for compliance to students who wish to avail of.
  • Private-sponsored scholarships are existing in the college with their own set of criteria for compliance of the student for sponsorship
